Chicago’s LGBTQ+ community and its allies filled the streets on Sunday, June 28, 2026 for the 55th Annual Chicago Pride Parade, bringing 155 participating entries, community organizations, performers, advocates, and thousands of spectators together under the 2026 theme, “Free to Be Proud.”

One of the nation’s oldest and most historic Pride celebrations, the Chicago Pride Parade traveled through the city’s landmark Northalsted neighborhood and into Lincoln Park, continuing a tradition that dates to Chicago’s first Gay Liberation March in 1970. The 2026 parade brought together celebration and community with a continuing recognition of Pride’s history of visibility, advocacy, and activism.

The parade’s Community Grand Marshals were journalist and historian Tracy Baim, civil rights leader Mona Noriega, philanthropist and community advocate Evette Cardona, and the Alliance of Illinois Judges. The honorees were selected through a community nomination process in recognition of their leadership, service, and contributions to Chicago’s LGBTQ+ community and beyond.

The parade also recognized the Puerto Rican Cultural Center for its work serving Chicago’s LGBTQ+ and Latinx communities. The organization was selected as PRIDEChicago’s 2026 “Out Front” Group, honoring grassroots organizations providing vital community services. PRIDEChicago presented the center with a $5,000 donation during its Pride Month kickoff celebration.

The “Free to Be Proud” theme reflected PRIDEChicago’s focus on visibility, dignity, resilience, and the freedom to live openly and authentically. The organization described the theme as a yearlong call to recognize both the progress made by LGBTQ+ communities and the continuing importance of community engagement and advocacy.

PRIDEChicago is a volunteer-powered 501(c)(3) nonprofit responsible for producing the Chicago Pride Parade and preserving its legacy as a cornerstone of Chicago’s LGBTQ+ community.
