Pride in Chicago

In true Chicago fashion, the city hosts a spectacular array of Pride Month events, including the lively Chicago Pride Fest and the iconic Chicago Pride Parade, showcasing the city’s unwavering support for LGBTQ+ Pride.

While many of the festivities are centered in the historic Northalsted neighborhood—affectionately known as Boystownand recognized as the nation’s first official gay neighborhood—Pride celebrations extend throughout the city. From street festivals and concerts to vibrant parties, every corner of Chicago bursts with energy and inclusivity during Pride Month.

Chicago Pride Fest

Chicago Pride Fest, organized by the Northalsted Business Alliance, is a vibrant celebration of LGBTQ+ culture and community that kicks off the city’s Pride Month festivities. This two-day festival, held in the historic Northalstedneighborhood, offers something for everyone, making it a highlight of Chicago’s Pride celebrations.

The festival features:

Live music on 3 stages, showcasing a mix of local and national talent.
A Youth Pride Space specifically designed for teens to celebrate in a welcoming and supportive environment.
Spectacular drag performances, highlighting the best of Chicago’s drag scene.
The adorable Proud Pet Parade, where furry friends strut their stuff for prizes.

Performances by the renowned Chicago Gay Men’s Chorus and inspirational guest speakers.

Proud to Run

Proud to Run Chicago has been a cherished part of Chicago’s Gay and Lesbian Pride Week activities since its inception in 1982. This annual event combines fitness, community, and philanthropy, offering a 10K run and 5K run/walk along Chicago’s picturesque lakefront.

The event celebrates LGBTQ+ Pride in a healthy, active way while also giving back to the community. Proceeds from Proud to Run benefit organizations that support the greater Chicago LGBTQ+ community, making it a meaningful way to participate in Pride celebrations.
