Pride Parade
One of the largest and longest running Pride Parades in the world, the Chicago Pride Parade was first organized as the Gay Liberation March in 1970 to commemorate the events of Stonewall.
The event bore almost no resemblance to what it is today. The size and scope of Chicago Pride Parade has grown from its original first year crowd of 150 people to more than one million, with a live broadcast on ABC7 Chicago.
As is most everything Pride-related in Chicago, the Parade is extremely well organized, and yet retains all the spontaneity and creativity that a joyous celebration like this can offer.
Chicagoans love the Chicago Pride Parade – and it shows!
