Asians and Friends Chicago’s “Under the Sea” theme represents the source of power from which many Asian Pacific Islanders feed their bodies and souls. The ocean and its creatures represent a breadbasket of bounty, not just as lobster bisque or poki bowls, but as the root of legend and spirituality. This year’s Pride float also celebrates 40 years of service to LGBTQ communities of Asian descent, providing safe and supportive environments in the form of social gatherings, cultural events and holiday celebrations.
