2022 Parade
The 51st annual Chicago Pride Parade made its highly anticipated return on Sunday, June 26, 2022, following its unprecedented cancellations in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
After two years of absence, attendees were eager to gather again, and the 2022 parade proved to be bigger and more vibrant than ever. Thousands filled the streets of Lakeview and Uptown.
For Tim Frye, the 2022 Parade was bittersweet. This marked his first time coordinating the event without his husband, Richard Pfeiffer, who passed away in October 2019. Pfeiffer had served as the Parade’s coordinator since 1974.
The return of the Chicago Pride Parade in 2022 was not just a celebration but a tribute to the legacy of those like Pfeiffer who helped build it into the iconic event it is today.
