2019 Parade
The 2019 Chicago Pride Parade was a momentous occasion, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, a pivotal event in the LGBTQ+ rights movement.
The celebration was filled with excitement and anticipation, with Mayor Lori Lightfoot, Chicago’s first openly gay mayor, leading the procession.
Organizers aimed to get ahead of the forecasted mid-afternoon storms, but by approximately 2 p.m., severe weather forced the Parade to halt for safety reasons.
Despite the early ending, the Parade still managed to showcase a majority of its 160 colorful entries, which included dazzling floats, vibrant contingents, and performances that brought the spirit of Pride to life.
